Recently my health has taken a turn for the worst. I feel tired everyday, my joints ache, and I can’t sleep. I began to have a strange symptom of having a metal taste in my mouth, usually when I ate or drank something. I searched and discovered that this is a symptom of heavy metal poisoning. But where could I have been exposed to a heavy metal? Perhaps it is related to the countless mercury fillings in my mouth.
The first step is to go to a doctor. Heavy metals can be detected via a blood or urine test. Hair also holds the metals and on a rare occasion has been tested. But what are sources of this type of poisoning? There are many, including water, industrial plants, metals used in a hobby, and believe it or not, and mercury from fillings. Many people also suggest that you check your work environment to see if there is heavy metal. Also, if you have recently been working in the dirt or outdoors, it might be a good idea to check and see if the area has been listed as a heavy metal site. The side effects of mercury poisoning are many. They include allergies, anxiety, poor coordination, drowsiness, emotional disturbances, fatigue, headaches, hypothyroidism, immune dysfunction, irritability, joint pain, migraines, numbness, tingling, tremors, and weakness. All of these correlate with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia which I have been diagnosed with since 1997. This happens to be about the same time my teeth started deteriorating and I had countless fillings. ( http://www.alternative-doctor.com/anti-ageing/heavy_metal.html )
So is there anything that can be done short of extracting all of my teeth? There are a couple of things you can do to help rid your body of some of the unwanted heavy metals. Total removal is difficult.
There are specific products on the market, but whether or not they work is questionable. One such product is sold as HMD, or Heavy Metal Detox. The product claims that, after taking regularly, toxic symptoms will all but disappear. They claim it is perfectly safe as it is an all natural blend of ingredients and herbs. The site kept claiming it only costs a cup of coffee a day to take their HMD. The actual cost is 60 dollars for a four ounce bottle. Pretty expensive for something that may not even take care of the metal poisoning. (www.detoxmetals.com)
Another tried and true method that is pretty cheap and more effective is chelation therapy. Chelation involves binding metals to some other substance that is excreted from the body. Chlorella is a green super food that is sold in capsule form that is said to serve as a chelation agent. Chlorella is partially made up of chlorophyll. Another one that is claimed to work well is Charcoal tablets. Charcoal tablets are relatively cheap and easily tolerated by the body. The bottom line is, the best route to remove heavy metals is to find the source and remove it if at all possible. Sometimes this is not feasible, but in the case of mercury fillings, it is. I have an appointment with my dentist to have work done to remove the mercury fillings and have implants or dentures inserted. I am sure this is most of my medical problems.
If you think you have heavy metal poisoning check with your physician and he can tell you the best route to go to rid your body of the toxins. The sooner the better, as long term metal poisoning can cause harm.
